Tamil Nadu Government Public Holidays for the year 2010

Under the 'Explanation' to section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Central Act XXVI of 1881) read with Notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, No.20-25-26, Public-1, dated the 8^th June, 1957, the Government of Tamil Nadu hereby declares, that in addition to 'Sundays' expressly defined as Public Holidays in the said 'Explanation' the following days shall be Public Holidays for the year 2010.

Through the Uzhavar Thirunal (16^th January, 2010), Meelad-un-Nabi (27^th February, 2010), Mahaveer Jayanthi (28^th March, 2010), May Day (1^st May, 2010), Independence Day (15^th August, 2010),. Vinayakar Chathurthi (11^th September. 2010), Gandhi Jayanthi (2^nd October, 2010), Ayutha Poja (16^th October, 2010), Vijayadasami (17^th October, 2010), Christmas (25^th December, 2010) fall on Saturdays and Sundays, they have been indicated in the above list for easy reference.

Applicable only to Commerical Banks Including Co-operative Banks in Tamil Nadu.
